REMANUFACTURING PROCESS
How the 5.7L EZH Remanufactured Engine Is Prepared
Every remanufactured engine goes through a structured process
designed to prepare the assembly for its intended application.
The process includes complete disassembly, cleaning, inspection,
machining, installation of replacement components and final testing.
Deep Cleaning
The engine is completely disassembled before cleaning begins.
Components are thoroughly cleaned using processes appropriate
to their material, including hot-tank cleaning for applicable
cast-iron components and thermal cleaning for aluminum components.
Inspection and Crack Detection
Individual components are visually inspected throughout the
rebuilding process. Applicable metal components are checked using
magnetic-particle inspection to help identify microscopic cracks
and fissures that could affect the finished engine.
Precision Machining and New Components
Required machining is performed during the remanufacturing
process, including CNC machining of deck surfaces where applicable.
New components can include bearings, pistons, rings, lifters,
oil pumps, gaskets, valve seals, freeze plugs and galley plugs.
Timing System Preparation
Timing components are addressed during the rebuilding process.
Depending on the engine configuration, applicable timing components
are replaced or renewed to support proper engine operation.
SIM Testing
After final assembly, the engine is SIM tested. The cooling and
oil systems are pressurized and the crankshaft is spun at high
RPM to help verify compression, oil pressure, cooling-system
pressure and overall engine operability.
